Mavs Take Game 1...

Hey Richard Jefferson...NOW is the time to start earning your paycheck!
The San Antonio Spurs lost to Dallas 100-94 in game 1 of their best of 7 first round series Sunday night. As Tim Duncan said "We gave it away"...and the Spurs can take that with them. Credit Dallas and Dirk, they played well, but turnovers and offensive rebounds killed San Antonio...
So did Richard Jefferson. Now I am not going to make this a Jefferson you suck piece, but the BIg 3 were what we expected and what the Spurs needed from them. But the Spurs need the Big 3 plus one other scorer.
That other scorer should be Richard Jefferson...after losing to Dallas in the first round last year, the Spurs went and got Jefferson because they needed that additional scorer.
Jefferson's box score...32 minutes 1 of 4 shooting (0-1 from 3pt range) 2-2 from the line....4 points in 32 minutes. Bottom line that is not good enough. RJ has to play big this time of year.
George Hill was a non factor in game 1 and we can chalk that up to his injury - at least for this game 1 but no points in 18 minutes won't get it done and won't keep him in the starting line up. He only took 2 shots which tells me his ankle was bothering him more than he says...
It's only one game and the Spurs can still accomplish the goal of gaining a split, but they need more fire power, We will spend a lot of time talking about turnovers and crashing the boards, but bottom line, they need others to step up and knock down shots.
Tim had 27, Manu 26 and Tony 18...that's 71 points out of 94...McDyess had 10 which means the other scorers combined for just 13 points....Bonner 5 points on 2-6 shooting, Mason 0 points, Bogans 0 points, Blair 4,
Hill needs to play like he has the last 6 weeks and Jefferson needs to get more involved and start earning that 14 million.
